A Paris-type
clock with a two-train mechanism: a chiming train and motion train, the former striking on the hour and the half-hour on a bell, and the latter with anchor escapement, suspension spring and pendulum, on which the numbers “871-52” are marked. Likewise, etched on the back plate are the numbers “73562-35-92” and the name of the clockmaker’s company “Japy Frères et Cie. G. Med. d’Honneur”.

The structure of the clock is made in blued bronze, decorated with two seagulls in flight. The front bezel is in glass and the back bezel in brass openwork, to better hear the sound of the bell. The white enamel dial is decorated with flower garlands and Arabic numbers in black. The arbors are located at the height of 4 and of 8. Over the 12 is an arbor for adjusting the time.
