The work shows an electronic animation generated in real time from financial data sourced from 393 international indexed funds. The vertical motion of the animation accurately reflects the rising or falling value of the funds. As the artist declared, “this work tries to capture the relentless flow of financial information that affects us in more ways than we can imagine.”

Through a palette inspired by the world’s main currencies and the colours of the raw materials traded on the stock market, Daniel Canogar turns all the downloaded information into an abstraction. The flow of information shown in the work also recalls elements of nature, like the circulatory system of plants alluded to in the title, Xylem.
