Borlaf Rebollal started studying art at the Museum of Reproductions and at the School of Arts and Crafts in Bilbao, where he won First Prize in Figure Drawing. He later trained at the studio of Quintín de la Torre (1877-1966). Shortly afterwards, he received the Legado Garamendi scholarship to train as a sculptor in Paris for a three-year period.

After furthering studies in Madrid attending Drawing lessons at Círculo de Bellas Artes, the sculptor then moved to New York with the intention of perfecting his technique. There he created over one hundred works including complete figures and bas-reliefs.

Apart from sculpture, he also painted throughout his life. His creations in the two disciplines were shown in his exhibitions, both during his stay in the USA and at Galería Chelsea in Madrid.
