Author's artworks
20th-21st Century Spanish
Born within a family of artists, at a very early age this sculptor from Bilbao showed a strong inclination towards sculpture. He trained first at the family studio and later at the Atxuri School of Fine Arts.
He later travelled to France, more specifically to Solesmes, where he furthered his training at the studio of the sculptor Raymond Dubois.
In the mid-1960s he left the family studio. In 1966 he joined Emen, a group of the Basque School, and his practice underwent a profound transformation geared towards creating an avant-garde language. In the 1970s the artist worked as a teacher at the School of Fine Arts of Bilbao.
His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Bilbao, Madrid, Basel, Chicago and Lisbon.
