20^th Century Spanish

The work of this painter from Aragon gained fame outside Spain with shows at many European and American galleries.

His beginnings are connected within the field of Surrealism, although little by little he became more attracted to figuration. He generally worked with a palette of primary colours and strong contrasts. Mira was clearly influenced by the Northern European romantic tradition and the Catalan avant-garde. Following his demise a number of retrospectives were organised in his hometown of Zaragoza and in several German cities.
