Mar Solís

(Madrid, 1967)

Author's artworks
20th-21st Century Spanish

Since graduating in Fine Arts from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Solis focused her practice primarily on drawing and sculpture.

Her work went through a series of phases, initially starting with sculpture in wood before shifting her interest to steel and then later returning to her origins in wood. That being said, she has always used paper and cardboard as basic working materials for sketching and creating ideas. In fact, paper has taken on an increasingly more important part in her production, both as a support for drawings and in the form of notebooks, very often permeated with a sculptural quality.

Solís has works in museums and institutions both in Spain, such as at Institut Valencià d´Art Modern, and also internationally, Kakslauttanen Sculpture Park in Lapland, Finland; Kyonggi-do Sculpture Park in South Korea.
