Rafael Calduch began to make a name for himself in the nineties, together with other artists like Uiso Alemany, a fellow member of the

. In fact, this work in the BBVA Collection from his Triángulos series was exhibited in the shows he had with Uiso Alemany (1941) in 1991 in Liege and in Brussels.

Experimentation with new materials has always been a core part of the artist’s practice, often working with resins on which he fixes pigments. In this particular work, he used graphite powder to achieve the smooth gradation of greys.

Calduch’s work is the result of a gradual maturing of the idea on the canvas, of his reflections while facing the work and what it demands from him. The product of a process of dialogue, his work in turn also invites a dialogue with the beholder.
