Born in Salamanca, Vega studied at the School of Fine Arts of Madrid. In the 1980s he lived in Italy and Switzerland.

Grounded in Informalismo, Vega’s painting is coloured by his highly cerebral approach, not overlooking the importance of drawing in the chromatic and compositional structure of his landscapes and interiors. Worth underscoring in his practice is his insistence on certain subject matters, using an intense and repetitive process of addition and subtraction around a central core.

To create this large-format piece the artist used a rich yet at once austere palette of leaded greys, blues and a deceptive violet. The end result is a dense, rough surface where it is possible to intuit some possible images moving from the background to the fore of the surface and connecting with the inner self of each spectator.
