A painter of portraits of women, still lifes and interior scenes, to which he always managed to instil a warm domestic atmosphere, and also the creator of an allegorical mural work at the Tonantzintla Astronomical Observatory, in Puebla, in this painting the Spanish artist Miguel Prieto expresses genuine empathy with the peasantry of his country of adoption, which afforded him a wide repertoire of subject matters grounded in regional traditions.
